United Nations Academic Impact and MCN are proud to partner on the Millennium Fellowship. In the three months the application was open in 2020, 15,159 young leaders applied to join the Class of 2020 on 1,458 campuses across 135 nations. 80 campuses worldwide (just 6%) were selected to host the 1,000+ Millennium Fellows. The Class of 2020 is bold, innovative, and inclusive.

Millennium Fellowship Project: My education
My education is a project that I would like to undertake to help people in less endowed communities understand the importance of education and the need to actually try their best to make their educational dreams a reality. In this part of our country and especially in my part of the region which is the upper west region or in a larger context, the Northen part of Ghana, the outcome of educational performance by students both at the basic level and the senior high level always comes out to be poor. For this reason majority of those who are not able to pass through to the next level of their education become stranded and do not know where or what to do next. I therefore will like to undertake this project so that in my little effort that I can and with the help of students who are also from that part my country and have been able to pass through their education successfully to serve as motivational factors and role models that the young too can look up to and also learn from to make a difference in their educational career. The goal of this project is to help students in the rural areas understand the importance of education so that they will take their education seriously. Within August-December, I should be able to reach about 500 students.
About the Millennium Fellow
Ibrahim Muhammed is a level 200 student at the University of Cape Coast studying Mathematics with Economics. In his line of study as a student, Ibrahim aspires to make his community a better for all. To be able to achieve this dream, Ibrahim believes that he needs to equip himself with knowledge that will help him achieve his intended goals.
