" Having students come to me in confidence and looking for help was my source of inspiration to participate in this Millennium Fellowship program. Everybody should have the same opportunities to education. I want youth to know anything is possible if they have the will and passion to work for it. "
Millennium Fellowship Project: "Detente" (meaning "Stop yourself" in spanish)
"Detente" (meaning "Stop yourself" in spanish) aims to create an entire program for schools to be able to provide a safe enviroment for students where bullying and cyberbullying are diminished and at the same time make them conscious of the dangers that can harm them on social media and how to prevent them.
About the Millennium Fellow
Karla Jaime López is a 25 year old student and teacher. During her classes she got to know a lot of students with social, economic and emotional issues which pushed her to find a solution and make a change. She noticed students came to her in confidence looking for solutions and that's when she decided she wanted for them to become a generation of mentors and coaches who set the example of pursuing their goals in life and make a change.
