" I am very excited to be a part of the Millennium Fellowship because it is a unique opportunity for me to learn from and partner with like-minds and experts, who are making progressive impacts across the world. In so many ways, it will promote my cause to create an Africa where every child and adult has equal opportunities, and sufficient access to the basic resources required to live productive and wholesome lives. "
Millennium Fellowship Project: Revamp Education in Africa
The 'Revamp Education in Africa' project is one which is in line with the goals of the NGO I work with, Vara Academy; which is to groom young Africans intellectuals, who are eager to change the world for the better. To achieve this within Nigeria, my team and I intend to:
- combine academic knowledge with technical expertise, information and communication resources, to teach students from primary and secondary schools across Edo State, Nigeria.
- on a weekly basis, tutor secondary school students in the arts, social sciences and science courses.
- provide one-on-one mentorship and counselling for students, in both academics and other areas of life, with the aim of ensuring their mental health, well-being and productivity.
- provide notebooks, pens, charts and other learning equipment. This includes modern technology such as smart tablets, projectors and other e-learning resources.
-organize social and recreational activities, which bring proactive students together.
