" I'm excited to be a member of the Millennium Fellowship because I see it as a great opportunity to stretch my horizon. Having worked with other humanitarian groups, this is chance to work with a whole new set of beautiful minds with the goal of positively impacting society. I know that alongside members of this fellowship, I would start to make the changes I want to see in the society. "
Millennium Fellowship Project: Project Health Alert
Project Health Alert is an initiative that started by a group of Millennium Fellows of the College of Medicine, University of Lagos, Nigeria. The project aims at promoting the Sustainable Development Goal 3, by raising awareness on a number of health disparities which include:
1. Awareness on oral health and the importance of good hygiene.
2. Awareness on the importance of voluntary blood donation.
3. Awareness on the preventable causes of blindness.
4. Awareness on cervical cancer, including health education on childbirth preparedness and complication readiness
5. Awareness on the importance of proper nutrition.
Project Health Alert also focuses on educating the general public on how to prevent and manage these issues, in order to ensure a healthy population. During the course of the fellowship, we hope to reach out to about 500 individuals directly and over 1000 indirectly. We intend to achieve this by leveraging on social media platforms available to us, as well as partner with organisations and NGOs in order to have a wider coverage.
