" It is extremely exciting to get this once in a lifetime opportunity. Its a great chance to position yourself at a place to make great impact in the community around me. Growing up in Kenya Africa, we have always had this vast belief that we are the next frontier. However, childhood mortality and morbidity leads to loss of great potential at a young age and this vastly affects our chances. I believe this chance to work with similar minded people will grant me skills to make measurable impact on my immediate community. "

Millennium Fellowship Project: Ventilators for All

One of the biggest causes of under 5 mortality in our country is pneumonia. While treatable by and large, the one asset missing in most cases is supportive ventilators that can vastly reduce mortality according to evidence based research. This is especially seen at our main referral hospital where the oxygen ports are stretched beyond capacity and thus indirectly causing death to a vulnerable population. "Ventilators for All" is a project that brings in key stake holders in the medical field to provide large scale ventilators that can be shared by multiple users and hence provide a needed resource. This will be done by having a huge social media presence in both Twitter and Instagram that will highlight the plight of individual cases like how the Jimmy fund worked in the united states for cancer. The project targets 1,000 page interactions per week on every social media platform. The other facet will be approaching organisations through their corporate social responsibility schemes to make donations or help in manufacturing the ventilators that can then be donated to the hospitals.
