" I am really excited to be a Millennium Fellow because as a rising student leader, this is a great opportunity for me to gain valuable resources and connections, which is essential for successfully implementing my Heart2Heart project. I am eager to meet and exchange ideas with other student leaders who share similar goals and work together to promote global peace and progress. Although the issue of poor mental health among students is real and truly devastating, it has limited awareness. However, I am confident that this experience would help my project reach a larger audience and create a positive impact in my community. "
Millennium Fellowship Project: Heart2Heart
Stress, anxiety, and suicidal thoughts have continued to rise in university students all over the world. With the COVID-19 pandemic, stress among students especially from poor socio-economic backgrounds has increased. Since mental health is just as vital as physical health, I will raise awareness of Heartfulness, a unique meditation practice, at my campus. In this project, we will obtain resources from the Heartfulness Institute, reach out to students, and provide them a virtual Heartfulness workshop where they will learn about the Heartfulness mission, components of the practice, and how to integrate Heartfulness and activities like art, journal writing, and exercise. into everyday life. My goal is to reach at least 300 students by December 2020.
