ABOUT THE MILLENNIUM FELLOWSHIP - CLASS OF 2021

United Nations Academic Impact and MCN are proud to partner on the Millennium Fellowship. In 2021, over 25,000 young leaders on 2,000+ campuses across 153 nations applied to join the Class of 2021. 136 campuses worldwide (just 6%) were selected to host the 2,000+ Millennium Fellows. The Class of 2021 is bold, innovative, and inclusive.

Millennium Fellowship Project: Transforming Specialty

Transforming Specialty is a group project led by six Millenium fellows of the University of Chittagong(CU). It supports SDG 04, quality education, and SDG 08, decent work, and economic growth. The main purpose of this project is to help the visually impaired students of CU in their academics, working on their skill development ensuring their active engagement in extracurricular activities. To gain our project goals we have done some relevant activities and participated in examinations as stenographers, celebrated International White Cane Safety Day, provided academic support. Organized session or ‘Rights and Protection of Persons with Disabilities-2013’ and its implementation, and ‘Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD)’. All of our activities were conducted for our target people, visually impaired students.

About the Millennium Fellow

Umme Sayeda is a young research professional, strategic thinker, and policy advocate. She is pursuing her bachelor's degree in International Relations at the University of Chittagong, Bangladesh. Chittagong is her place of birth also.

As a student of IR, she has met with amazing opportunities to focus on different significant coursework like international history, political science and sociology, economics, diplomacy and negotiation, gender studies, strategic studies, geopolitics, refugee and migration studies, politics of globalization, global environmental politics, human rights and humanitarian law, and many other. Focusing on different scopes of IR helped her to think from different lenses and to develop her ability to think critically. Therefore, Sayeda is working as the Strategic Analyst of the Act for Displaced.

Furthermore, she is passionate about bringing a better change and working for it. This dedication leads her to work for policy reformation so that she is currently working with Youth Policy Forum (YPF) as Policy Envoy. Hence, she has joined the YPF Environment Network to work dedicatedly on the environmental policy formation of Bangladesh to achieve sustainable development. She poses a
great enthusiasm to work for achieving sustainable development goals globally.
