Millennium Fellowship Project: Plant-a-Tree Project
Trees play a significant role in curbing the
effects of greenhouse gases that causes
global warming and global climate change.
Constant deforestation in Nigeria, which have
the fastest rate of deforestation in the world
according to Food and Agriculture
Organization of the United States (FAO)
disrupts normal weather pattern, creating a
chain reaction of other problems like drought,
crop failure, flooding among others.
The plant-a-tree project aims at planting and
nurturing new trees to offset the losses made
by persistent deforestation made over the
years without sufficient replanting. This project
also intends to increase awareness on the
dangers of deforestation while advocating for
new laws that better protect Forests in Nigeria.
