Millennium Fellowship Project: Distinction at a Go!
Distinction at a go project is aimed at advancing goal 4 of the SDGs and UNAI goal 3 “Quality education” by promoting academic excellence among students on campus. This project has also help advance target 4.4 of the SDGs by increasing, diversifying and as well providing equitable access to learning opportunities to students on campus with the use of a mobile app, so that many students on campus can acquire relevant knowledge, skills, tools and competencies for decent work and life.
The first segment of this project which is aimed at promoting academic excellence on campus by organising tutorials across various faculties on campus, creating a study hub and as well creating compendiums that have helped augment the knowledge of students has thus far yield a great impact on more than 1500 students on campus most especially in the faculty of Engineering domain of the institution.
Furthermore, the second aspect of the project which involves partnership with the SkillUp Nigeria; Skillup is a mobile app designed to provide a sustainable solution to workplace deficiencies. It provides students with the requisite skills for the 21st century workplace. My team were able to engage, raise awareness and educate students on campus about the platform, how they can navigate the platform, the importance of the platform via many channels (social media platforms, physical engagements on Campus). Students on campus were also engaged and educated virtually about the workplace skills on the campus community created by the Distinction at a Go! team,
This aspect of the project has thus far impacted more than 500 students on Campus, several testimonies from students about the SkillUp platform and its impacts has been recorded thus far.
