The Hong Kong Polytechnic University | Hong Kong, China | Advancing SDG 11 & UNAI 9

" I am really excited to be a part of the Millennium Fellowship as it will give me a platform to share my thoughts and make an impact on the world we all live in. This is also an amazing opportunity for like-minded individuals to build strong connections and initiate projects to help achieve the Sustainable Development Goals and give back to the community. Although we might come from different backgrounds, this community of determined and passionate fellows shares one goal of working together to make the world a better place. I am hoping that our actions will inspire others to join sustainability movements and maybe even start their own projects to create a positive change. "
Millennium Fellowship Project: Project ReGain
Project ReGain is inspired by Germany’s Pfand System and the current situation of Hong Kong’s Reverse vending machines for plastic bottles. Our project focuses on the advancement of sustainable cities and communities (SDG11) and advocating for responsible consumption and production (SDG12). The project is pioneered by four fellows from the Hong Kong Polytechnic University coming together to implement reverse vending machines in the school area, to support the student body in practicing and building a habit of recycling.
Our vision is grand and we plan to scale this project up with time; moving it to other institutions or even in areas across the city. Alongside this, we also want to spread knowledge and ideas about the various ways on how the consumption can be carried out which leads to a more sustainable ecosystem.
