United Nations Academic Impact and MCN are proud to partner on the Millennium Fellowship. In 2021, over 25,000 young leaders on 2,000+ campuses across 153 nations applied to join the Class of 2021. 136 campuses worldwide (just 6%) were selected to host the 2,000+ Millennium Fellows. " My interest in becoming a Millennium Fellow stems from my goal of promoting equality in the access to justice. By improving the legal knowledge of the public, I aspires to create a level playing field for the marginalized groups in society. It is an incredible honour to become one of the Millennium Fellows and I am looking forward to gaining new insights into the issue by learning from the experienced leaders through this programme. "
Millennium Fellowship Project: Legal Education Initiative
This project is dedicated to promote legal education among the disadvantaged groups in Hong Kong. To do so, I have produced some materials related to anti-discrimination laws in Hong Kong and the leaflets to explain what is equality. On the weekends, I would accompany a few of my friends to distribute the leaflets in Central of Hong Kong, where many foreign domestics helpers gather around during their days off.
Apart from distributing leaflets, I have also set upt Instagram page to promote equality concepts and share some recent updates on anti-discrimination laws over the world. Through the social media promotion, I was able to promote the awareness of anti-discrimination and equality among university students.
About the Millennium Fellow
Jenny Lau is an undergraduate pursuing a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree at the University of Hong Kong. She is passionate about promoting access to justice for the marginalized populations.
With the peer support network that Millennium Fellowship provides, she is excited about meeting like-minded people and leveraging her legal knowledge to generate social impact to contribute in the development of the United Nations’ Sustainable Goals.
