United Nations Academic Impact and MCN are proud to partner on the Millennium Fellowship. In 2021, over 25,000 young leaders on 2,000+ campuses across 153 nations applied to join the Class of 2021. 136 campuses worldwide (just 6%) were selected to host the 2,000+ Millennium Fellows. The Class of 2021 is bold, innovative, and inclusive.

" I have always held a passion for social and environmental problems, and recently, student organizations, which I believe are strong unions, to bring about awareness and even possible entrepreneurial solutions to some of the significant issues plaguing our world. Consequently, I believe that this Millennium Fellowship will help take my social impact to the next level in many ways. During the Millennium Fellowship, I am excited and hope to improve my leadership, Critical thinking, and Agility skills. "

Millennium Fellowship Project: Ratemybooks

My hope is for this to be a helpful tool for university students to choose the best books to write papers on for this fall and onwards. Focusing on SDG numbers four and ten, Ratemybooks aims to help move the needle in terms of getting more university students to read books. At Ratemybooks, you can review books that you have read for others to be inspired to read or advise them about books to avoid. The goal is to allow students from all over the world to voice their opinions on books and view what students from different universities are reading.

About the Millennium Fellow

Phyllicia Marika Carr is a creative, ambitious undergraduate student at Hosei University in Tokyo, Japan. She was born in Japan to a Japanese mother but grew up in her father's country, Jamaica. Ever since finishing high school and moving back to Japan for tertiary education, Phyllicia has had a fervent passion for social and environmental issues. She has gone on to take leadership roles inside and outside of her school and has pushed herself outside of her comfort zone to bring about awareness and even possible entrepreneurial solutions to some of the vital concerns in today's world. Phyllicia is looking towards a brighter future and desires passionately to work in an environment where she advocates for the underrepresented and fights for a more equal and just society.
