" I have always been searching for guidance and communities when it comes to implementing the many ideas for community service that keep cropping up in my head. Millennium Fellowship gives me a chance to give shape to a project I've been plannng for a long time, with their brilliant inputs and peer groups. "
Millennium Fellowship Project: Project Read and Rise
Project Read and Rise focuses on making reading an accessible and equitable activity for communities of all kinds. Established under the aegis of Millennium Fellowship, it works in two streams. One part of Project Read and Rise works as a chapter of the Rising Readers Club. As this initiative's chapter, the project serves as a book cub wherein each member of the book club donates at least one book at the end of every book club meeting. The second part of Project Read and Rise takes place on ground, where the founding fellows (Aditi and Ayezah), usually accompanied by a volunteer, visit an NGO and bring storytelling in its rawest form to the kids at the NGO. During these NGO visits, the project team engages in storytelling through enactments, role plays, read alouds, character sketches, skits and other activities that urge the young minds to get in close proximity with storytelling, thus making reading a part of their routine.
