ABOUT THE MILLENNIUM FELLOWSHIP - CLASS OF 2021

United Nations Academic Impact and MCN are proud to partner on the Millennium Fellowship. In 2021, over 25,000 young leaders on 2,000+ campuses across 153 nations applied to join the Class of 2021. 136 campuses worldwide (just 6%) were selected to host the 2,000+ Millennium Fellows. The Class of 2021 is bold, innovative, and inclusive.

" Sustainable and smart cities need smart citizens that care of what happens in the future. Empowering citizens and making them more conscious of what they can do makes me keep going on my project, and teach people how to build beautiful things with a little effort every day. I am very excited of being part of this program, I know that I will develop some new skills and meet amazing people that like me, who want a better world for everyone. "

Millennium Fellowship Project: Serve To Change Lives

This project is a social initiative which aims to become social service for the Tecnologico de Monterrey Campus Monterrey University. We hope to develop and implement a series of workshops about sustainable practices, focus on the necessities of the individuals, helping to achieve good resources management and disposal inside the community. First the project will focus on recycling greywater with homemade filters which consist of several layers of materials like, sand, carbon, gravel and cotton, contained in plastic recipients, this water will be used for cleaning common spaces and as a source of water for crops, allowing to use non contaminated fresh water for own consumption.

About the Millennium Fellow

Roberto Carlos Vargas Maldonado is a passionate, creative and innovative civil engineering student that wants to put his knowledge and skills at the service of others. He has always been loved and had a lot of opportunities for his own development, so his goal is to allow other people have the same opportunity. Throughout his academic career, he had developed and participated in several proyects that foster hard and soft skills, while different issues are revealed making the competitor aware of what is happening around the world, inside his/her community, using the SDG's as a guidance to propose a solution. Finally, he will focus his profesional career innovating in several topics as urban planning, trasnportation, high tech construccion and smart cities, tackling the SDG number 11 "Sustainable cities and communities".
