" Millions of girls are not in school globally,highly brought about by horrific cultural practices such us early marriages,sexual abuse and exploitation,Female Genital Mutilation(FGM) among others.With my aim to eradicate such practices in my community,Millennium Fellowship will provide me with a better ways to achieve my goals . "
Millennium Fellowship Project: Drylands Concern Initiative
This project aims at creating awareness and educating our local communities in ways to make agriculture and pastoralism more climate-smart in drylands that is; pastoral communities in Marsabit county,Kenya such as Borana,Gabra and Rendille among others.We no longer see climate change as just a disaster but also an opportunity for us youths to actualize our ideas, adapting,sharing knowledge with our communities on how we can amicably solve its consequences while enhancing practices like afforestation and reforestations to reduce climate change effects. .This entailed mobilizing youths and joining hands with my environmental youths clubs for a training sessions on how this project can impact a large part of drylands communities in our country.
About the Millennium Fellow
Sake Godana Duba is a bright and globally competitive environmental science student at Kenyatta University,Kenya,who is passionate about Girl child education apart from her interest in the field of environmental resource conservation.Growing up in a society where culture hinders girls from achieving thier full potential,she stood to fight for gender equality with the aim to empower and educate young girls through mentorship programs.She is a dynamic young lady who seeks to change the world through her voice.
