" I am proud and excited to be a Millennium Fellow for the the Class 2021 because I think it's a great opportunity to expand my vision by meeting and learning about the perspectives of other fellows. I can't wait to be a part of such a passionate and powerful community to take my impact next level. "

Millennium Fellowship Project: Integrating Sexual Health Into First-Year Curriculum

The project is adding courses on sexual health to the curriculum of the first-year medical students at Koç University. The first-year- medicine students normally have a weekly seminar class at Koç University. In the Fall2021 term the Dean’s Office approved to give seminars on sexual health for 3 consecutive weeks. The courses were given in a weekly seminar format by several professors on variable topics. This project is important as there aren't sex education classes in Turkey at any education level. Therefore teens, but especially younger girls, are not well informed about their sexual health. By giving proper information to teens, this project aimed to decrease people’s risk-taking behavior and improve their health and well-being.
