Millennium Fellowship Project: Beautiful Differences
Differences have been around in societies for as long as everyone can remember. I never saw them as things worth talking about because I didn't feel that anyone needs to explain why he/she is different from others, whether it comes to religion, political affiliation, physical appearance, body type, etc... I went through a hard personal experience where I had to change how my body looks just so I can fit into the society's standards of what a "beautiful body" looks. After a decent amount of time, I had the power to sit down and think clearly about what was I doing. The only question that came to my mind was: "who even set this standard?". From this point, I started uploading videos on my personal accounts (instagram, tiktok,...) motivating others to love themselves no matter what their difference is. But, I thought that I needed to go beyond that, and that is where I got the idea of starting my own initiative that will give me a modest platform to spread the word. Differences are beautiful and they are what makes the world as special as it is.
About the Millennium Fellow
Jeannette Touma is a goal driven and adventurous lebanese woman. Growing up in Lebanon has taught her that many beautiful things in life are not easy to reach but worth fighting for. She is a very ambitious person with a lot of goals for her future, such as reaching the UN one day, which she obviously will fight very hard for. To reach these future plans, Jeannette loves to fill her time with beneficial academic and non academic activities such as fellowships, volunteering and training programs.
