Millennium Fellowship Project: Lokta Cards
Lokta Cards is a social business that produces authentic greeting cards out of waste paper and creates job opportunities for underprivileged women in Nepal. It currently gives part-time jobs to 8 people in Nepal. Lokta Cards aims to create job opportunities for homeless people and help them sustain their lives by themselves. With the collaboration of different social businesses, Lokta cards has been able to sell hundreds of cards in Nepal and US. It is slowly emerging in the US market and it aims to further expand its market in other parts of the world.
About the Millennium Fellow
Sonam Kumar is a social entrepreneurship student at Lynn University. He is also a founder of a social business called Lokta Cards. It is a greeting card company which aims to provide job opportunities to physically and mentally fit homeless people, while delivering best quality product to its customers.
He has also been involved in many national and international programs in the last 4 year. His ultimate goal in life is to empower other youths around the world to become leaders in their respective communities.
