" Quality Education for all is still far from achieved in my country despite education being free, at elementary levels the quality is not high, therefore quality Education is still not free and less privileged do not see why they should invest in education since there is no guarantee of employment afterwards, my campaign is to bring awareness of the importance of education to school dropouts and encourage them to get back to school.
I am thrilled to join a global community with heterogeneous minds whom I can learn from and accelerate towards achieving my goal. "
Millennium Fellowship Project: Light a Candle
Light a candle is a project which aims at encouraging youths who have not completed secondary education and those who completed Ordinary level of secondary education but can not proceed with formal education, to enrol for skills development at vocational schools.
The youth who fail to pass Primary leaving examinations normally get frustrated and are filled with anxiety for what the future might bring, Girls end up getting pregnant and becoming single teenage mothers.
We support such youths emotionally so they can gain the confidence to get into vocational education and encourage them when they enrol to complete their courses so that they can be self employed.
I volunteer as a part time Tutor (Mathematics and drawing) in one of the vocational institutes (Buloba Business, Vocational and Technical institute) the skills which are offered include, Tailoring and garment cutting, welding, Fashion and design, Concrete practice, plumbing, Auto mechanics, Electrical installation, Electronics and journalism Certificates.
With additional education we believe that some social problems like Poverty, poor hygiene, hunger and domestic violence can be reduced.
