About the Millennium Fellow
Ahumuza Esther is a young lady from Uganda studying bachelors of laws at Makerere University.
She grew up from a small village where there was no pronounced civilization. She always imagined a world where people lived in harmony and respect for one another which was absent from where she grew up where there was gender inequality, poverty and uncertainty especially for a girl child.
She found herself wondering why families would choose to educate a boy and not a girl, why when a girl got pregnant before marriage, she would be disowned and not a boy. So she became passionate about helping and encouraging her fellow girls to study hard and get scholarships and also not to engage in things that would jeopardize their education. She did this through her leadership skills where she would organize talks and debates.
She grew up wanting to fight for the rights of women who were marginalized, disrespected and trashed by society especially girls who got pregnant when they were young.
Through out her life she has lived to hold talks with such kinds of people and realised that they actually have big dreams and a contribution to society, if given a chance . She is hoping to get a platform to fulfill her dream by studying bachelors of laws and also provide her contribution in development of the United Nations' Sustainable Goals
