United Nations Academic Impact and MCN are proud to partner on the Millennium Fellowship. In 2021, over 25,000 young leaders on 2,000+ campuses across 153 nations applied to join the Class of 2021. 136 campuses worldwide (just 6%) were selected to host the 2,000+ Millennium Fellows. The Class of 2021 is bold, innovative, and inclusive.

" Inclussivenss, Equitability and creativity is the core of my excitement to be part of 2021 Millennium Fellowhsip class, this is because I would love to analyze, propose and discover new and better methods on how to handle the commuinty, promote sustainability of different ideas and projects, and as a youth, working with the youth in attining the SDGs is a great honour as we all look forward to achieving the set target by 2030. "
Millennium Fellowship Project: TAL Youth Uganda
TAL (Think About Life) Youth Uganda is an economic empowerment venture in Akokoro, Apac, northern Uganda, co-founded in 2020 by Makerere University students; Onapa Ambrose, Akurut Sylvia, Nalongo Shadia, and Ocaye Opio. TAL buys surplus sweet potatoes and turns them into delicious, nutritious doughnuts while employing young youth, especially women. TAL created a production plant to recruit, train, and employ unemployed women to bake the doughnuts, and youth are employed to sell them at local markets.
On top of the bakery project, TAL Youth Uganda strategies to educate and economically empower young people by training them in various handcraft skills to ensure greater independence and engagement, thereby lifting them to their greatest potential. This includes recruiting five children every year, providing mentorships through the workshop, and providing hand skill training like liquid soap-making, bakery, reusable pads making, which will economically empower them.
About the Millennium Fellow
Patrovas Gabriel Okidi is a young leader pursueing a bachelors degree in statistics at Makerere University, He is a transformative leader who serves as the Human Resource Manager in Think About Life(TAL) Youth Uganda, an non-profit organisation aimed at skilling and supporting the Youth, in that He is One of the 41st cohort of Next Generation Leaders Under the Talloires Network of Engagged Universities, Patrovas is so passionate about the SDGs and the impact it has and yet to have in the world, so he stands out to push, put in place and organise every avaible Youth to stand out and make these goals a reality.
