About the Millennium Fellow

Pedun Clare is a 4th year student of Law at Makerere University school of law. She was born in a humble Ugandan family in the Eastern part of Uganda. As a child, having witnessed the social disparities in her community, she always wanted to be an advocate for the less privileged persons. During her years at University, she cultivated a strong interest for social justice thus her involvement in a number of programs aimed at the promotion of social justice. Most of these programs involved going up into slum areas and rural communities to offer legal assistance and education on various legal topics such as property rights, equality etcetera. Clare looks forward to a future where everyone has access to opportunities irrespective of their colour, race, sexual orientation, political affiliation and other factors, most importantly, a future where the law applies to all equally.
