Millennium Fellowship Project: UMEED

Umeed is a project focused on SDG number 3 (Good Health and Well-being) and SDG number 4 (Quality Education). Our goal is to spread awareness and solve the resource constraints that children from marginalized communities face. We have three main tenets: collection of donations for these kids, connecting them with older-grade students who provide them with their old books, and talking to them about their mental health. A lot of kids from lower socio-economic backgrounds end up going to low-income jobs even when they have great potential. Many of them also have internalized trauma due to their social conditions and hence, never learn emotional growth. This is exactly why we wish to work with children like this and help them fight their circumstances. It focuses on raising awareness about early education while providing adequate fundings and resources for students. Along with that, a vital part of the project is to bring attention towards the importance of mental health and emotional wellbeing in students.

About the Millennium Fellow

Seham Sajid is a diligent and avid business student at the National University of Sciences and Technology. She was born in Pakistan. Her educational journey and focus towards human rights enabled her to notice the inequalities around her, specifically in the education sector. That focus transformed into a greater mission of making the educational sector of the country better and more technologically equipped. From college projects to volunteering, this mission is reflected clearly in her determined leadership. She aims to reach a professional platform that allows her mission to reach its full bloom of success; equality and education.
