Millennium Fellowship Project: Biomedical application of Glycosaminoglycans
Biomedical application of Glycosaminoglycans (GAGs) project focuses on the different aspects of GAGs in nanomedicine, regenerative medicine and pharmaceuticals. GAGs constitute unique sequences of disaccharide units, which are a combination of iduronic acid, glucuronic acid, glucosamine, galactose or galactosamine monosaccharides. GAGs are ubiquitous in the human body and perform different essential biological functions. Synthetic and the naturally unique GAGs are the main alternative for mammalian derived GAGs have higher risk of contamination.
