" To be of service to others is a joy; it is gratitude to them for their accommodation, and reciprocity for their actions. "
Millennium Fellowship Project: Education and Refugees Workshop Series
This project consisted of a series of workshops conducted during the autumn of 2021, attended by university participants, online or in-person. The organizing team promoted sustainable and sustained support for refugees and migrants by raising awareness in these workshops on the issues that refugees and migrants face in receiving an education. We invited experts, professors, or other guest speakers to present to the workshop cohort on issues of refugee education and actions, especially in relation to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and the United Nations Academic Impact Principles (particularly focusing on Goal 4 and Principle 3, respectively.)
About the Millennium Fellow
Alxis Thng Rui Xiao is a student from Singapore, studying in a French university. Though they can currently get by in their day-to-day life with passable French, jsut nine months ago, they were barely able to string a sentence together at all. Before entering university, they have a strong track record of internships and volunteer activities; since entering university, they have found a new love of touring their new home country, and balancing it with volunteer commitments, as always.
