" I truly believe that life is all about building each other up. I'm excited to be a Millennium Fellow because it helps me do exactly that! The fellowship provides a great opportunity to meet with like-minded young people and share and exchange ideas with them. I'm grateful to have a platform that'll help me collaborate with others and uphold the SDGs and UNAI principles. "

Millennium Fellowship Project: Unleash

‘Unleash’, is a project undertaken under the Millennium Fellowship. It is led by Millennium Fellows Anna Antony, Gayathri Arvind and Mahalakshmi Manian. The initiative aims to help college students with writing as well as communication skills by creating an inclusive and non-judgemental community of learners. In places of higher education, the required level of writing and communication skills is high. Many, especially those who didn't primarily study in English at school or didn't have sufficient opportunities to develop these skills, face inhibitions and find it difficult to adapt to the new environment.

This project aims to build a student community where peers can help each other improve communication, presentation and writing skills that will help them in their quest to get better opportunities, jobs and will also boost their confidence. The project will have multiple sessions every week with creative learning activities that'll aid the learning process. The main aim of ‘Unleash’ is to provide a safe and inclusive space to students for developing their skills. We propose to enroll and engage student volunteers across departments to assist and further the initiative. At the end of the project, we hope to leave behind a strong, inclusive and self-supporting community, constituting students with renewed confidence in their own abilities to take on the world.
