" We have always thought of doing something when we have reached a certain milestone. So whenever I used to read articles on the problems of society I always thought that if I will have the proper conscience to work for it, I will definitely invest my time in it.
But as I entered the real world, I found out that the place which was supposed to provide us the purest form of knowledge was tainted with the darkest color of red.
With the help of the Millennium Fellowship, I would like to work on creating policies and mandates to find the eminent sexual violence in educational sector of the country. "

Millennium Fellowship Project: Dakshya

Our team conducted research to fetch areas where we could contribute to creating social impact. We came across some inmates of the prison located in the Dhading district of Nepal. We observed that the prisoners there wanted to study but were are not provided with sufficient books and reading materials for it. We realized that learning and education is a life-long opportunity that no one should be deprived of and hence decided to go for a book distribution project.

The project Dakshya aimed to impact more than 300 prisoners of prison in the Dhading district. However, we are planning to extend our target to more prisons and impact the lives of more prisoners from other prisons around Nepal. Additionally, we will also be conducting a study regarding how the Prison system of Nepal is failing to facilitate prisoners with sufficient books and educational materials. This report shall work as a reference and a contribution for reform in the prison system for concerned authorities in Nepal

About the Millennium Fellow

Chetana is a student who has been trying hard to stay safe and precautious during the pandemic, these days. She is a law scholar who is also trying to figure out what her future holds, career-wise.
Other than that, Chetana is determined to work hard to make possible changes in the lives of those who are in need. She has seen the problems in the community she lives in, early marriage, economic hurdles, gender-based violence, caste-based violence, and even when they look like a never-moving mountain, she knows that if she has the weapons she can start hammering it, till it becomes dust.
