" I'm excited to work with like-minded individuals on a same project with a goal that impacts humanity. I'm full of expectations that I would get to learn more about practicing leadership in my community. "

Millennium Fellowship Project: Dakshya

Our team conducted research to fetch areas where we could contribute to creating social impact. We came across some inmates of the prison located in the Dhading district of Nepal. We observed that the prisoners there wanted to study but were are not provided with sufficient books and reading materials for it. We realized that learning and education is a life-long opportunity that no one should be deprived of and hence decided to go for a book distribution project.

The project Dakshya aimed to impact more than 300 prisoners of prison in the Dhading district. However, we are planning to extend our target to more prisons and impact the lives of more prisoners from other prisons around Nepal. Additionally, we will also be conducting a study regarding how the Prison system of Nepal is failing to facilitate prisoners with sufficient books and educational materials. This report shall work as a reference and a contribution for reform in the prison system for concerned authorities in Nepal
