" Helping others in a meaningful and dignified way has always been my life goal, and I know the Millennium Fellowship will keep me accountable to that goal to ensure that I work towards creating true change in my community. After participating in the Millennium Fellowship last year, I am even more excited and grateful to be able to continue connecting with like-minded peers and mentors this year. I know the passion of the social impact leaders with whom I will be surrounded will continue to drive me to empower and uplift the elders, as well as others, in my community in an effort to work toward SDG #10: Reduced Inequalities. "

About the Millennium Fellow

Katie Furey is a passionate, hardworking undergraduate student studying Spanish, history, and entrepreneurship at Tufts University in Medford, Massachusetts, USA. Inspired by the incredible leaders she has grown up with, including educators, family members, and peers, Katie's lifelong goal is to help others in a meaningful and dignified way. Always fascinated by the idea of the past and those who came before her, Katie developed a particular passion for empowering the elder generation as well as immigrants in her community. She also has a special connection to education and spends several hours each week tutoring children. Katie hopes to one day work in a career through which she could combine these passions while working toward the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
