University of Connecticut | Connecticut, United States | Advancing SDG 10 & UNAI 3
" I am excited to be a Millennium Fellow because I am passionate about SDG #10 (reducing inequality within and among countries). My project on financial literacy in first-generation communities would be the perfect opportunity for me to study wealth inequality among college graduates in developed countries. I am also eager to learn from other Millennium Fellows and their experiences implementing social change on their college campuses! "
Millennium Fellowship Project: Equitable Economic Inclusion for All
Equitable Economic Inclusion for All seeks to study the financial literacy rates of undergraduates at the University of Connecticut, and identify a targeted intervention to improve test scores for first-generation students.
About the Millennium Fellow
Nidhi Nair is a rising junior at the University of Connecticut, where she studies Economics and Mathematics-Statistics. She grew up in South India and was deeply inspired by the impact of micro-finance on female entrepreneurship. This motivated her to become an economist in the future and to improve economic inclusion in underrepresented communities. Nidhi leads several clubs at the University of Connecticut and has interned at policy think tanks and government institutions. Her research focuses on financial literacy in first-generation communities and on its effect on wealth inequality.
