Millennium Fellowship Project: The Museum for Environmental Education and Civic Engagement (MEECE)
The Museum for Environmental Education and Civic Engagement (MEECE) is an open-access, decentralized, virtual environmental conservation platform with the goal of connecting people of all dimensions of difference with environmental education and activism (i.e., in and beyond academia). It consists of two parts: an interactive 3D museum and a community center. The former, based in Saganworks software, hosts educational materials designed by its patrons. The latter, based in the application Discord, not only provides the communicative means to create museum exhibits, but also a forum to hold events and share resources on conservation issues. In addition, MEECE is grounded in diversity, equity, inclusion, joy, and civil discourse.
About the Millennium Fellow
Daniel Arini is a rising senior pursuing a B.A. in Environmental Studies concentrated in resource policy and management with a geography minor. Driven by a lifelong, intense passion and curiosity for the environment as well as its conservation, Daniel strongly believes environmental issues are best resolved through analysis which unites disciplines and holistically involves community stakeholders. Going forward, Daniel hopes to found two nonprofits: one based on his Millennium Fellowship project and another to mitigate palm oil consumption and production.
