" Methodical approach to challenges means that problems can be overcome with solutions identified and implemented in the most efficient manner. Being part of the Millennium Fellowship will give me the ideas and the opportunities to proffer solution to the underlying health condition related to diet for healthy humans and planet. The knowledge gained from fellows in different countries will help me develop problems solving skills that will enable me proffer a solution to problems arising in my community. Therefore, Millennium Fellowship is ideal for me to extend my impact in other not to leave the world as it was when I came in. "
Millennium Fellowship Project: HealthyDiet for Better Planet (HBP)
HealthyDiet for better planet (HBP) inline with SDGs 2, 3 and 13 is aimed at creating awareness on sustainable diet for healthy humans and planet.
This project focuses on relationship between food production, consumption and climate change, and gives insights on the planetary diet, climate change is an often overlooked issue when it comes to human diets.
In as much as we needed food for a healthy growth we should not neglect the impact it imposed on the planet when it come to its production.
Unhealthy diets are the leading cause of ill health worldwide, with 800 million people currently hungry, 2 billion malnourished and further 2 billion people overweight or obese. The world’s science academies recently concluded that the food system is broken. Industrial agriculture is also devastating the environment, as forests are razed and billions of cattle emit climate-warming methane.
About the Millennium Fellow
Michael M. Marshall is studying dental medicine at the University of Maiduguri, His passion for humanity drives him to volunteer and seek opportunities in diverse capacity for the betterment of the humans race.
He is involved in others activities both in school and outside. There he continued the trend of just meeting his potential, taking on new challenges which gives him the opportunity to enhance his leadership skills.
