ABOUT THE MILLENNIUM FELLOWSHIP - CLASS OF 2021

United Nations Academic Impact and MCN are proud to partner on the Millennium Fellowship. In 2021, over 25,000 young leaders on 2,000+ campuses across 153 nations applied to join the Class of 2021. 136 campuses worldwide (just 6%) were selected to host the 2,000+ Millennium Fellows. The Class of 2021 is bold, innovative, and inclusive.

Millennium Fellowship Project: HealthActive

HealthActive is a team of public health enthusiasts aiming at estimating public awareness on hypertension, following up on patient treatment and promoting healthy lifestyle modification in the teeming Nigerian population. Hypertension also known as the silent killer disease and it is a major risk factor of Cardiovascular Disease. Public awareness creation, health education and follow up on treatment and lifestyle modification of individuals in regards to hypertension had been inadequate and this had led to high mortality rate resulting from uncontrolled hypertension. This project aims to present health education and awareness which will result in profound reduction in cases of hypertension over the period of the Millennium Fellowship (August-December 2021)

About the Millennium Fellow

Ekubiatobong Akpan is a smart,young and universal ambitious pharmcy student at the University Of Uyo,Akwa Ibom. Nigeria.
She was born in Nigeria and is currently studying in Nigeria.
Ekubiatobong has been passionate about the good health and well being of people,this has given her the drive to become a volunteer in Non governmental organizations and other associations.
This has motivated her into unceasingly dedication to social works.
So far, she has been a pledged volunteer in community projects and development in her college years.
With her Organizational skills and outstanding leadership she has lead a project team and plans to advance more in the future.
Ekubiatobong aspires to be in the Global Health field and contribute Immensely towards the development of the United Nations sustainable Goals.
