Millennium Fellowship Project: Project OUSTED

Adolescence is a period of human growth/development associated with society pressure, peer pressure, and adolescents’ desire for independence and responsibility for themselves. These experiences, most times, lead to the development of unhealthy lifestyle such as addictions, drug/substance abuse, and neglect to health among adolescents which not only affect their health but also their overall productivity.

Team Ousted has not only observed this to be a challenge to a sustainable healthy living but has also observed that the health of teenagers is rarely paid attention to. Therefore, Team Ousted hopes to intercept this period of development by instilling health consciousness among teenagers.

Hence, OUSTED is a community-based project aiming to instill health consciousness among teenagers in Uyo, starting with the teenagers at Patfon High School, Uyo Itam, by educating these teenagers on commonly overlooked health issues common with their population. The project aims to:
• enlighten these teenagers on the importance of being conscious of the implications of their actions on their health,
• address issues of drug abuse among teenagers with emphasis on the negative consequences of this act on their health and overall productivity,
• get the teenagers properly informed about Hepatitis and Drug Abuse.
