The 'MAPAC' Project is a project that aims to promote the third goal of the Sustainable Development Goals which focuses on goodhealth and wellbeing. MAPAC is an acronym for Malaria Prevention And Control. According to World Health Organization's Malaria Report 2020, malaria is one of the most severe public health problem worldwide and is a leading cause of death and diseases in many developing countries. The World Health Organization estimates that in 2019, 229 million clinical cases of malaria occured and 409,000 people died of malaria most of them children in Africa.

Since Africa is the most affected continent as a result of various factors such as the presence of a very efficient vector, Anopheles gambiae complex which is responsible for the high transmission, presence of the predominant specie of plasmodium that most likely cause severe cases and death-Plasmodium falciparium and scarce resources alongside socio-economic instability, the MAPAC Project will be conducted in AkwaIbom State, Nigeria in West Africa. Malaria affects all classes of people with the most vulnerable being children.In a bid to prevent and control its spread, the MAPAC project targets,children in Nursery/Primary school within the age range of 2-9years .The strategy it intends to use are: 1) Conduct a presurvey in a Nursery/Primary school to find out the rate in which people are infected with malaria and the level of knowledge people have about it. 2) Create an awareness on malaria prevention and control through placards,songs and counseling services in a school. During the awareness campaign, give insecticide to the school management 3) Conduct a post survey after a month of creating awareness to assess the rate of malaria in those places and this survey will enable us to rate our work in decreasing the rate of malaria cases.
