Millennium Fellowship Project: Own Your Period.
OWN YOUR PERIOD is a project that seeks to alleviate period poverty by providing young girls in underserved communities with sanitary pads, educative materials on menstrual hygiene and also teaching them how to make reusable sanitary pads.
About the Millennium Fellow
Rakiya Mohammed is a 4th year medical student at Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Nigeria. She nurtures a keen interest in Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights with over 2 years experience in volunteering and actively participating in students leadership. Rakiya is an enthusiast and an avid advocate of Sexual and Reproductive Health, Mental Health and active leadership. She is very interested in SDGs 3 and 4 and has organized high positive social impact activities in her immediate community. Her extensive record of volunteerism has led her to take several courses all in a bid to continue growing and improving herself.
