" Leadership and rendering a helping hand to my community drives my art and my
work.
Being a Millennium Fellow comes with a lot of opportunities.
It will open me up to various opportunities where I can contribute to community social
change. It would pave ways for me to network with worldwide leaders, who I can learn
from.
The skills I gain from Millennium Fellowship will increase my social impact in my
community.
I am excited to experience this and to see the opportunities that come for me as a
Millennium Fellow. "

Millennium Fellowship Project: The Hundreds Hearts Initiative

Cardiovascular diseases have been found to be the leading cause of death worldwide over the past decade. In 2013, cardiovascular diseases caused an estimated 17.3 million deaths and 330 million disability-adjusted life years lost. As with many high-income countries during the past century, low- and middle- income countries, including Nigeria, are now- especially over the past two decades- experiencing an accelerating increase in cardiovascular disease.
My project, Hundread Hearts Initiative would focus on the following cardiovascular diseases of interest- hypertension, coronary heart disease, heart failure, cardiomyopathies, valvular heart diseases and congenital heart disease. It is aimed at saving hundred of lives, involving children, pregnant women and the elderly by sensitizing them on the likely risk factors and prevention, through outreaches, campaign, as well as media publications.
