Millennium Fellowship Project: Itójú ara sájú oyún
My project, “Ìtójú ara sájú oyún” translated in English - “proper care of the body should be done before pregnancy” is a nonprofit non-governmental initiative which highlights preconceptional care as the key to all human health.
Pre conceptional care has been of imperative importance as it was singled out for special attention in millennium project of 2000.
In Nigeria or Africa at large, Males are more so overlooked because of their intrinsic inability to get pregnant despite the fact that they play a direct, active and constructive role in infant and maternal mortality.
My project is aimed at Sensitizing individuals to preventing infant indisposition, health education and counseling through health outreaches. screening services, Medications and contraception for those who wish to delay pregnancy would also be supplied.
About the Millennium Fellow
Pearl Fumnanya Mukah is a young final year medical student in Afe Babalola University. She was born in the capital of Nigeria, Abuja an urban city where she was relatively shielded almost all her life to the terrors and social injustices of the world. Studying medicine in a rural community opened her eyes and prompted her interests in making the world better, one project at a time. As a result of this, she has embarked on various projects; educating the residents of Ido-Ekiti on the preventive measures of Covid-19. She has visited orphanages and supplied them their needs. She has also distributed sanitary pads and educated pre - pubescents and adolescents on the dangers of unprotected sex and the fine details of consent. She has helped her community to achieve SDG 5 which is gender equality. In Pearl's formative years (high school and college), she has developed some important leadership skills and embarked on leadership roles which she plans to continue in the future thereof. She is empathetic and maintains great interpersonal relationships. She is also eager to learn and strives to attain the best in whatever she does.
