" "I am very passionate about sports, especially basketball. I believe that there are so much potential and talent in the young generation and with the right consideration, infrastructure and support these kids can do great things and go far in this sector. I am where I am today because of sports, and the value I learnt from it. I had dreams when I was a kid, unfortunately circumstances of life never allowed me to achieve them, so this drives me to fight for the furure of this new generation, and create new doors of opportunities for them." Millennium Fellowship Project: TETEZANA
Tetezana (A Malagasy word that means bridge) is a project that aims to connect youths and development, but what makes us unique is that we will achieve this goal through the practice of sports. The project will mainly consist of launching diverse camps where students can learn more and gain new skills about their sports of interest. We will also provide masterclasses sessions as part of the camp to inspire the youths. This session will aim to make them understand that sports can change their lives through the positive things they can bring to life and that there are also many opportunities available in this sector. So the second part of the project is to launch a competition inter-institutions, and this will be a chance for the youths to interact with new people, create connections, find someone with the same interest, and gain new experiences. Most importantly, this can be a chance for them to showcase their talent and get the possibility to be seen by potential scouts and sports leaders.
About the Millennium Fellow
Lalaina Auriel Ny Andriantsoa is a hard working and determined person with an ambition to improve the sports insustry in her community. She's a native from the island of Madagascar and lived there before moving to Rwanda for her undergraduate studies. Since her young age, Auriel has always had a true passion for sports in general, but fell in love with basketball specifically and grew up playing at a local club. Living within this community actually awakened her dream to be a source of positive change in this underestimated sector of sports. Throughout her high school years and currently in her college years, she has helped many people around her through her leadership and dedication to positive change. Auriel is thrilled to be part of this new cohort of Millennium Fellowship and hopes to provide her own contribution in the development of United Nation's Sustainable Goals.
