As part of our solution, we
1. Recruit scholars
We reach out to schools in rural areas through workshops and online broadcasting to identify highly-talented-but-low-income students. We send out application forms to such students to apply to be our scholars. Qualified students are selected and recruited to benefit from our services.
2. Prepare our scholars
As part of our preparation for school and scholarship applications, we coach our scholars on how to write scholarship and school application essays, introduce them to LinkedIn, and educate them on how to send out professional e-mails.

3. Support our scholars
We assist our scholars with application fee waivers. We strive to assist our scholars in securing scholarships in top-tier universities in Ghana. While our scholars are in school, we provide them with buddy-up coaching, mentorship, and job shadowing assistance. We also assist them in securing internship opportunities.

About the Millennium Fellow

Maxwell is a Mechanical Engineering student at Ashesi University. He was born into a family of seven in Esaase, a Kumasi suburb. Almost everyone in his neighborhood works as a farmer. They were forced to accompany their parents on the farms as teenagers to inherit the farms when they retired. Education isn't a priority for them. Some parents even perceive it as a competition because it limits their children's time farming. As a result of cultural pressure, the majority of young people abandon primary education in favor of farming.

He was able to persevere because he was passionate about education and motivated to achieve the future he desired. His capacity to remain courageous and Self-motivated assisted him in receiving a MasterCard scholarship at Ashesi University.

As the first generation in his family to attend college, he plans to return to his hometown after graduation to assist improve farming and, more importantly, to encourage youngsters to pursue higher education. He believes that he'll be able to put his skills to good use and make a positive difference in his town and the country.
