" “I believe that everyone has a role to play in bettering their local and global communities. My goal is to empower and inspire others to discover issues they are passionate about and the role they can play in local and global changemaking, and then to provide them with access to the skills, resources, and knowledge they need to pursue creating positive change. The U.N. Sustainable Development Goals helped me recognize the roles I can play in bettering my own communities and provided me with a holistic understanding of global sustainability and changemaking. I use the SDGs in most of the work I do today, so I am excited to be a Millennium Fellow to have the opportunity to connect with Fellow changemakers passionate about improving their communities and working towards the global goals.” "

Millennium Fellowship Project: Changemaker Connect

Changemaker Connect is a resource website intended to connect individuals and groups interested in doing more to support the U.N. Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in their community with local, regional, national, and international resources. The current focus of the project is currently on the Greater Phoenix Area. This project was inspired by another project I worked on, called Changemaker Maps, which connected students at Arizona State University with campus resources and classes to learn more about the SDGs. Changemaker Connect is intended to alleviate the barriers such as lack of information, lack of accessibility, and not knowing where to start, that prevent people from taking actions for the SDGs. By not only sharing information about local, national, and international resources and ways to serve your community, but including an introduction process that helps individuals figure out the best issues and efforts for them to focus on, this serves as a
a great resource for schools, educators, community leaders, interested youth, and more to start getting involved with empowering their community for the SDGs.
