Millennium Fellowship Project: SHEZAAL

We initiated this “Shezaal Project” to create social/public awareness regarding women's issues in Baluchistan with an emphasis on the objectives of the UN Sustainable Development Goal regarding gender equality and women's empowerment. In this context, we organized different discussion circles and panel discussion at our university as well as different places, where we speficially touching on the topic of the status of women's empowerment in Baluchistan. We also held discussions with accomplished female professionals belonging to backward areas of Baluchistan. Under these discussions, the female participants/speakers discussed their success stories, accomplishments and, particularly, the challenges such as financial dependency, lack of educational and employment opportunities, hygiene and medical issues, social constraints, etc., they faced as well as an ordinary woman in Baluchistan.
Finally, we sent those recording to be played in the educational institutes in the rural areas of Balochistan to inspire and motivate the students there.
The main objectives of this project were to highlight the issues experienced by ordinary women in the backward areas of Baluchistan; present the women's perspective and pave the way forward to bringing broader and structural perception changes; raise awareness among the university students as well as the public by presenting the panel discussions in the rural locales and educational institutes of Baluchistan; motivate the female youth students of backward areas to avail life-changing and career-uplifting opportunities.
In the end, we are looking forward to advancing the project further through collaborations with NGOs in order to increase the project's impact and communicate our message across different segments of society.
