About the Millennium Fellow

Zainab Adekunle Abubakar is a final year medical student of Bayero University Kano, Nigeria. She was born and brought up in Abuja, the capital city of the West African country, Nigeria. Having experienced the disparities in Mental health care especially amongst youths in her home country and in the continent in general, She is motivated to work towards putting an end to these disparities. She has been working as a mental health advocate and as a volunteer for the past years at mental health Non-governmental organizations in her country. As a medical student, she's currently undergoing her medical training at Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital, Kano, Nigeria, where she's opportuned to come across numerous patients with mental health challenges. She aspires to be a Neuropsychiatric specialist at the end of her medical training.
