Millennium Fellowship Project: Collegiate Foundations

I am part of the team that promotes equitable access to higher education. As a mentor with the organization Collegiate Foundations, I assist first-generation, low-income students in achieving their higher educational goals. Many students are either not able to go to college or are at risk of dropping out because they lack the essential skills to succeed in college. The mentoring program offered by Collegiate Foundations seeks to bridge this gap by providing mentoring services to these students. At Collegiate Foundations, we guide students through classes that they are struggling with at school, as well as general English comprehension and study skills. Additionally, we assist them with standardized testing, college applications, financial aid applications, organizational skills, and communication skills. The mission of Collegiate Foundations is to ensure that every student is able to fulfill their goal of pursuing higher education.
