" The idea that prosperity for all is best achieved through a well-educated, sustainable, and inclusive society pushes me forward in my work. I believe it is my civil duty and my moral obligation to never look away from issues of injustice. Everyone deserves to be treated with respect and dignity and the political world should be reflective of that fact. The work achieved by Millennium Fellows in pursuit of the SDGs empowers me to aim high in these endeavors. Their stories give me hope that these goals are an achievable possibility for our future. "

Millennium Fellowship Project: UNICEF Unite at Boston College

I plan to launch a UNICEF UNITE organization at Boston College to connect and educate the community on the adversities that children face. This organization will host events and fundraisers throughout the year, activate the local community, and provide resources for Boston’s most vulnerable children.

About the Millennium Fellow

Daniela Canales is an innovative and justice-oriented senior at Boston College pursuing a degree in International Studies and Management for Social Impact and the Public Good. She is deeply passionate about children’s rights, education, and sustainable development. These interests have led her to spearhead a UNICEF Unite Chapter at her university in order to safeguard children facing adversity in the Boston community and to educate others on the adversities young girls and boys face around the world. In the future, Daniela hopes to contribute to a team of socially responsible and creative individuals that share her sense of civil duty and philosophy of justice.
