" Being part of the Millennium Fellowship will give me the tools necessary to think creatively, share ideas and gain enough competency to complete my work. I will be able to have a social impact with the support of driven and like-minded people, and in alignment with the UNAI principles and SDGs. I am excited to become a Millennium Fellow and look forward to meeting other agents of change! "

Millennium Fellowship Project: Ciudadanos del Mundo

I created a survival guide containing basic concepts and tools to thrive in life once the student graduates from high school. This book, is written by and for young people in a very casual and friendly way, focusing on giving advice and tips not given in their high schools. It gives the student resources to properly enter the workforce if he or she decides to take this path: with a guide to fill out their resumé, their rights as an employee and tips for interviews. Secondly, it gives the student instructions to how to look for the best universities depending on their current resources, degree interests, academic standing, as well as a list of current student federal scholarships to apply for and the necessary documents for all the application. Finally, it includes a section with information about the Sustainable Development Goals and how to apply them in their future paths. This book serves as a guidance for students to realize that they have a chance to do and become more, most of the times they only need that "little push."

About the Millennium Fellow

Emilia (Emmy) Acevedo Quezada is a bubbly and passionate student majoring in Sociology with a Marketing minor at Boston College in the United States. She was born in Durango, Mexico and now resides in Boston where her dream of having an impact in society is coming true. Emmy has always been interested in cultures around the globe, but mostly how people's behavior, opinions and ideas change depending on their given circumstance. During the past recent years, she became aware of the social injustices that climate change seems to bring to the most vulnerable. Her goal is to tackle such injustices that become a barrier for people to pursue their dreams and passions in life. Emmy aspires to become an agent of change in her community with the help of the United Nations' Sustainable Goals.
