" Sexual and reproductive health must be protected not only to ensure the well-being and livelihood of womxn, but to empower them in all spheres of their lives. With certain groups--womxn of color and womxn experiencing homelessness--facing even more severe disparities and health risks, a shift must occur to research, raise awareness about, and make changes to end these historical trends of suffering. I intend to be part of this shift in my community and beyond. "

Millennium Fellowship Project: Understanding Stigma and Gaps in Knowledge Regarding Women Experiencing Houselessness

The aim of the project is to assess the stigma surrounding women experiencing houselessness, in addition to raising awareness about this specific sub-population of the unhoused community. By creating a quiz with 120+ responses, I was able to identify misconceptions held by students and the UC Berkeley community to better inform future interventions while also inspiring my peers to advocate for resources and policies to support women experiencing houselessness.

About the Millennium Fellow

Andriana Marijic Buljubasic is a enthusiastic public health student at the University of California Berkeley. She is a passionate and committed advocate for womxn's health, especially in her local Berkeley community. Through her volunteer work and her own experiences within the healthcare system, she has recognized the significant disparities and the multitude of shortcomings within the womxn's health sphere. Andriana has taken on several projects to raise awareness and spur progress on her own campus. With a focus on sexual, reproductive, and maternal health, she has become the chair of the Sexual Violence and Sexual Harrasment (SVSH) Prevention Committee under the Berkeley School of Public Health and the creator of a student-run class teaching advocacy surrounding SVSH. She intends to continue her work within womxn's health in the future through a career that combines public health and medicine to have an impact on both an population and individual scale.
