Millennium Fellowship Project: STUDENTS 4 STUDENTS
Every student has their unique take on how to study and it is always more effective for the students' technique, mnemonics than what the standard textbook has to offer. My project deals with improving the quality of education, as well as the students, especially after the Pandemic.
Essentially, the project involves students helping other students. There are many passionate university students who wuuld be thrilled to have an opportunity to teach others. It has also been found that when teaching others, one's own capacity to gather knowledge increases exponentially. Hence, this would be an incentive for many university student volunteers to join the cause. The project revolves around creating a chain of education: University Students taking their time to improve college students, and in turn, college students will help high schoolers, who will help middle schoolers in turn. Every student enthusiastic about the project will be trained, and given advice on how to properly conduct the study sessions. These sessions will be conducted, especially in rural areas and areas where access to basic education is not sufficient for the students there. The sessions can be held in our project's respective study centres in each district. The sessions would be weekly or bi weekly, depending on the lack of access to said areas. The study sessions can also be held remotely with the help of internet.
Our project also encourages women and, especially girls to take part in it, as they are the ones who lack most education in our society. Due to society norms of keeping girls as 'prized trophies', many girls, especially in the rural areas, do not get the education they deserve. Under our project, women will be teaching the girls, they would know how to empathize with their situation and can provide better support for them.
The project also entails study sessions for university level students where students from one major may learn subjects of other majors. For example, an engineering student can learn about pharmacy. This will be done by the networking amongst the students amongst every university in Bangladesh and coordinating to give each other, as well as their respective communities, the quality education that they deserve.
Education that will be provided not only includes teaching textbook materials, but also how to smartly find resources for the subjects online, how to interact with each other properly, courtesy as well as etiquettes across all fields. Even social skills and other life techniques, such as table manners, will also be taught for everyone in rural areas! My dream is to make sure people can become self reliant, self sufficient and help others just like we are helping them so that we can all achieve our dreams together!
