I’m ecstatic to enhance my competence and communication and envision new ways to learn and recreate." "

Millennium Fellowship Project: Project SHAHAJJO

Mental healthcare in Bangladesh is enormously inadequate owing to a lack of public mental health facilities, scarcity of skilled mental health professionals, insufficient financial resource distribution, and societal stigma. Therefore, Project SHAHAJJO will be working with launching a mental healthcare website providing every mental healthcare need starting from finding the right information to having an appointment with the right doctor and creating overall awareness about mental health. In Bangladesh, only less than 0.11% of the population has access to free essential psychotropic medications. Even the educated masses don’t know the basic difference between a psychologist and a psychiatrist. There are medical apps for booking appointments but they're for physical health emergencies. If someone goes through a sudden panic attack or an anxiety attack they don't know how to handle it. Besides, even if anyone wants to take therapy sessions there's not much option due to lack of the right information and not to mention the social stigma. This website will bridge the gap between a doctor and a patient that were constrained by social parameters. Furthermore, most adolescents in Bangladesh have no income and are completely dependent on their families financially. This website will connect them to free therapy sessions and services.
