Millennium Fellowship Project: Marine debris and plastic pollution in cameroon
Marine debris and plastic pollution in cameroon is a join project carried out by my millennium fellows Franklin teke njumbe and Epeh Nuela addressing debris and plastic pollution in aquatic Ecosystems. This project aim to engage with members of states, international, local NGOs and coastal communities to control waste disposal, and to engage in keeping the beach clean and healthy. We understand marine debris and plastic pollution is transboundary and as such laws, treaties has to be made to combat this problem.
During the Millennium Fellowship period ( August - December 2022) Franklin teke njumbe and Epeh will carry out a sensitization campaign on marine debris and plastic pollution in marine Ecosystems in limbe down beach and will also participate in a beach cleanup campaign in limbe coastal area to keep the beach health and it's inhabitants free from disease and health issues.
This project aim to keep the beaches clean and calls for concern for beach toilets to be build as some of the inhabitants practice open deification due to lack of toilets. This can have a negative impact to marine health and terrestrial health as well and as such it calls for concern.
